You probably already know that last year’s Great British Baking Show featured over forty baked treats, fifty-six cakes, twenty-four cupcakes, and the show crowns a winner for their latest challenge – decorating a cake in the form of an item associated with a TV show. This year promises even more amazing and creative treats. I can only imagine the creative and elegant creations this year’s edition will feature. Here are some events I’m looking forward to at my local grocery store during the upcoming holiday season.
October is going to be Great British baking show season
Which means it’s time for me to get out my pitchfork and check out what I can do for baking parties. As usual, I plan to make sure to visit at least one bakery before I decide to buy a certain recipe. I already purchased pie and scone recipes for my son, so this year’s “baker of the month” can’t disappoint!
One of my favorite things about this yearly event is that they allow anyone to enter the bake-off competitions. From beginners to professional bakers, there are so many people that are always looking for new ways to impress the judges. The new theme this year is ” Baker of the Month,” and I’m pretty sure the judges will be impressed by some of the recipes the amateur cooks have come up with. These contests run the entire month, so if I’m not busy, I want to make sure I don’t miss out on any of the action.
Another thing I love about this annual event is that they give the bakers a chance to show off what they have learned throughout the year. This year’s ” Baker of the Month” is Jasmine todd, who recently became the first female judge at the contest. During the past few years, Jasmine has honed her skills at becoming the best cake decorator and baking teacher she can be, and she has challenged many other bakers to try and do the best job they possibly can. She has also won a couple of awards at local events, so it should be easy to see why she would be the best choice to represent the Knoll.
Kids are on the roll!
In addition to all of these great events, there is also the Kids baking championship at the Knoll. Every kid who participates in the Kids baking championship will receive a gift from the baker. This year’s winner was the very sweet Mandy, who was also the oldest competitor at the kids baking championship. She was able to bring home a very unique and beautiful “kids” teddy bear themed wedding cake. It wasn’t too difficult to see why she was the Kids baking championship winner. Mandy displayed a beautiful talent for baking that I am sure any of the judges were impressed with.
Judging from past shows I’m sure that there are many new bakers out there who have never had the chance to taste the cakes that are made by some of the professional bakers. There are several different awards given at the Knoll each year. The top award is for the best decorated cake, which was last year’s winner. The next award is the best decorated fresh cake, and in some years the best decorating in the entire competition. Anyone who has the talent to present a beautifully decorated cake deserves to win an award at this prestigious event.
